Chapter 8
Shawn was helping Mimi clean up the breakfast dishes when his cell phone rang and disrupted his and Mimi’s little make-out session.
“Hello” Shawn said
“Shawn, Hey man, its Phillip…can we talk sometime today? I need to ask you something and it’s pretty important.” Phillip said
“Yeah, sure, I was going to stop by Belle’s this morning and ….” Shawn was cut off by Phillip
“I need to talk to you before you talk to Belle. You think maybe you could stop by my office before you head over there?” Phillip asked
“Yeah…it sounds urgent. Is everything alright?” Shawn said
“Yeah everything is fine…just something I need to talk to you about.” Phillip said
“Alright well I’ll be over there in a few.” Shawn said before hanging up with Phillip.
“That sounded urgent. Is anything wrong?” Mimi asked curiously
“No it was just Phillip; he needed to talk to me about something before I go talk to Belle.” Shawn said
“Huh…I wonder what about?” Mimi said
“I don’t know, he didn’t say, but I better head over there and see what it is.” Shawn said
“Okay…call me when you get done at Belle’s and let me know how it went.” Mimi said
“Sure, and is it safe to say that I will have a beautiful woman waiting for me when I come home?” Shawn asked
“Of course you will…I was planning on taking Jake shopping with me today but we’ll be back in no time.” Mimi said while Shawn pulled her into kiss and then made his way to the door.
“Shawn…I love you.” Mimi said
Shawn turned around with a smile on his face. “I love you too, Mimi”
When Shawn had left Mimi went and gathered Jake’s things. She was going to take him shopping and then she had to see Phillip.

Shawn walked into Titan and was lead into Phillip’s office by his secretary.
“Hey Shawn, thank you Lisa” Phillip said and Lisa closed the office door behind her.
“So what did you need to talk to me about?” Shawn said
“Well I know that you are totally back in love with Mimi, and I want to know what you are going to do about it.” Phillip said
“Wait…how do you know about Mimi and me? Have you been spying on us?” Shawn said
“No Shawn. I haven’t been spying. I’ve been you two around each other and with Jacob…and I can just tell.” Phillip said
“So it’s that obvious huh?” Shawn said
“Well yeah.” Phillip said with a laugh “I take it the visit to Belle’s this morning is going to be a break-up visit.”
“Uhhh…yeah it is. Things were never really the same when we got back together and now that Mimi is home for good I just realized that I don’t feel the same way Belle as I used too.” Shawn said
“Good for you Shawn. I am glad that you and Mimi are getting back together.” Phillip said
“You are? I mean that will mean that I will be around Jake a lot more.” Shawn said
“Yeah…and that’s okay. I love being that little boy’s father but there is no one I would rather be his step-dad than you my friend.” Phillip said surprising Shawn.
“Thanks man. You don’t know what it means to hear you say that. Is that all you wanted to ask me?” Shawn asked
“No actually. I have something to confess.” Phillip said
“Well go ahead. I’m listening.” Shawn said
“I…still love Belle. More than ever, and I want her back. I want her to trust me again and I want us to be a family with Claire again.” Phillip said
“That’s great man! Hey and like you said there is no one I would rather be Claire’s step-dad than you.” Shawn said
“Thanks, I was hoping you would say that. I think it’s going to take a while but I think Belle will fall for me again…to be honest I was hoping that you would break it off with Belle, then maybe she will turn to me for comfort or something.” Phillip said
“Oh…well your wish will most likely come true. Belle has been acting really obsessive lately so I don’t think she is going to take this breaking up thing very well.” Shawn said
“That’s okay. You say whatever you have to say, and in turn I will pick up the pieces.” Phillip said with a sly grin
“…Alright well, I better head over there.” Shawn said getting up and walking out of Phillip’s office.

Shawn had knocked on Belle’s door and was waiting for her to answer. ‘please let this go smoothly’ Shawn thought.
“Shawn! Where have you been?! I have been worried sick!” Belle said pulling Shawn inside.
“Belle I’m fine. I’m sorry I didn’t call.” Shawn said
“Where were you? Claire and I needed you and you weren’t here.” Belle said
“Look I’ll answer any questions you have just as soon as I tell you what I have say.” Shawn said
Belle thought ‘I know what you are going to say. You are going to say that you are in love with Mimi’.
“Belle I don’t know how to tell you this.” Shawn began. “I just don’t think that this is going to work anymore…me and you.”
“Are you breaking up with me?!” Belle said becoming furious, she didn’t really think he would come out and say that he wanted to leave her.
“…Yes…and I am so sorry it’s just…” Shawn said
“It’s just; its just…that you are in love with Mimi again is that it?” Belle said
“How did you know?” Shawn asked
“I have eyes Shawn! I see the two of you when you are together it’s like you guys are 15 again!” Belle screamed “Well you can go and have Mimi for now but you will come back to me…you always do.” Belle finished
“No, not this time Belle. Things between us are different this time…I don’t love you anymore.” Shawn said “I haven’t for a while now. I will always care about you as my first love…but not as my soulmate Belle. I’m sorry.”
“What about Claire? What about our family Shawn?!” Belle said
“I will still be a father to Claire no matter what, but that doesn’t mean that I have to be with you.” Shawn said
“I can’t believe this…I just cannot win.” Belle mumbled
“What did you say?” Shawn said
“Nothing…it was nothing” Belle said
“No, it sounded like you said you couldn’t win… what can’t you win Belle…Me? Is that it?...you think of this thing as a game?” Shawn said furious “That’s why you get so mad at Mimi because you know that I love her. Well no more Belle” “Besides seeing Claire I want nothing more to do with you.”
“No! You don’t mean that…Shawn it’s not a game I just want you all to myself, is that so bad?” Belle said
“Yes Belle it is! Because we don’t love each other like we used to. It would be wrong of me to stay with you when my heart belongs to Mimi.” Shawn said
“So you really want to be with her? The woman who kept you from being Claire’s father? The woman who will always be just…ordinary?” Belle said
“No…Belle…she is extraordinary. Nothing you ever say will make me feel less about her. I take partial responsibility for our marriage failing the first time, If I would have shown that I loved her more then maybe she would’ve been more honest with me…but I have forgiven her and I am going to spend the rest of my life with her Belle, not you…and if I ever hear you say one more bad thing about Mimi you will live to regret it.” Shawn said walking out of the door.
Belle stood there dumbfounded at what she had just heard. “How could he love Mimi?” Belle said “Well I hope they enjoy there time together because it won’t last long!” Belle screamed as she paced around trying to think of a plan to destroy Shawn and Mimi.
“If I can’t have Shawn…no one will.”
