Chapter 3
Mimi was cleaning up the mess of all the photos when her phone rang. “I wonder who that could be; I didn’t think anyone had my number.” Mimi said
“Hello?” Mimi said
“Mimi…it’s Belle”
“Belle hi, how are you? ….Did you guys get Claire back?”
“Yes we did, and we are back in Salem. We made peace with Phillip, and he is back to the old Phillip, all he is asking for is to be in Claire’s life.” Belle said.
“Wow. That’s great. Though I don’t think I will ever forgive him for what he did to me.” Mimi said.
“I know Meems, but the reason I called is because Phillip has something that he needs to tell you and I think you should hear him out. Here he is…”
“Belle wait!..” Mimi said.
“Mimi don’t hang up, please.” Phillip said
“Fine Phillip but this better be d**n good because whether you’ve changed or not I’ll never forget how you were that night.” Mimi said
“I know Meems and I am forever sorry. I wasn’t in my right mind. But I have something to tell you, actually something to show you.” Phillip said
“Well what is it?” Mimi said
“I ..I can’t tell you on the phone Meems. I need you to come back home to see it.” Phillip said
“What! Phillip there is no way in hell that I will go home especially since you’re the one doing the asking!” Mimi said
Shawn heard her yelling through the phone and figured he would give it a try. “Phil, give me the phone.”
“Mimi. It’s Shawn.”
“Shawn?...umm hey”
“Hey…Mimi look, Phillip was telling the truth, you need to come home and see this.” Shawn said.
“Why can’t you guys just tell me?...Shawn I really don’t know if I can come home, it would just be too painful.” Mimi said
Shawn felt a wave of guilt knowing that it was partially his fault why it would be painful.
“I know I know and trust me Mimi I would not say this if I didn’t think you coming home would be worth it but trust me it will be. Once you see what Phillip has you’ll know why you should be home.” He could think of a million other reasons why he wanted her home but couldn’t say them. At least not yet.
Mimi thought about it. The stubborn independent Mimi wanted to say ‘no’ and move on with her life, but why would Belle, Phillip, and Shawn be so persistent about her coming home if it wasn’t something huge that she should know. Her mind was tugging both ways but curiosity won over.
“Alright fine…I’ll come home, but just until I see whatever this is then I’m gone…for good.” Mimi said
“Great Meems! You won’t regret this. Now Phillip is taking care of your tickets and stuff so I guess I will see you when you land.” Shawn said
“Okay I guess I will see you guys there.” Mimi said
“Good. Oh and Mimi…”
“Yeah Shawn”
“Thanks for coming. I can’t wait to see the look on your face when you see what Phillip has to show you.” Shawn said.
Mimi laughed; it was good talking to Shawn life this again. Though, her curiosity was growing more and more by the second.
“Alright Shawn, I’ll talk to you later.” Mimi said
Mimi went into her room and started packing, she was ready to get this visit over with and move on with her life, she didn’t know how she would move on but that’s what she was planning to do.
“Mission Accomplished. She is on her way.” Shawn said
“Oh that is great! She is going to be so thrilled, that little boy is the spitting image of her.” Belle said
“Yeah he definitely has her eyes.” Shawn said looking at the child. He felt a connection to him somehow, but he thought maybe it was just because this was supposed to be his son.
So its set, Belle and I will pick Mimi up tomorrow and Phil why don’t you hang back with the baby. Just to make sure she doesn’t see it and then want to run back on the plane.” Shawn said
“Good idea. Why don’t I meet you at the pub tomorrow, you guys can bring Mimi there for lunch, and that’s when I’ll show her. She is in for the shock of her life.” Phillip said
“Yeah man that will work. Belle and I will pick her up and you will be waiting at the pub. I’ll have Grandma Caroline shut the place down for a little while.” Shawn said
“Alright well I will see you all there.” Phillip said while leaving out of the door. He had a busy day tomorrow, he just hoped Mimi would not react like the way he thinks she will. “Oh god, if all hell breaks loose tomorrow. I am screwed.”
