Chapter 54:
Chelsea didn’t know where she was heading; all she knew was that she couldn’t go home. But she wasn’t at all surprised to find herself standing at the Dimera front door.
“Hi I’m looking for-”
“Miss Benson,” the old man interrupted, “I’m afraid your sister isn’t home at present.”
She didn’t wonder at how he knew who she was, she was too upset to think about such trivial things, “Do you know when she will be? I mean-”
“If you’d like, you can wait for her, I’m sure she won’t be long. She’s usually home before master Lucien and he should be arriving within the hour.”
Chelsea debated whether or not she should stay. Her father certainly wouldn’t like her having stayed alone in the Dimera mansion and she could always go to Shawn’s place, but she didn’t have the energy or the inclination to do so. “I think I will wait.”
“Of course,” he said as he stepped aside to allow her entry into the house, she’d ever been inside. She’d been to busy over the last few weeks to pay her sister a visit at home and now she regretted not having done so, at least then she’d know where everything was. The butler showed her to the living room, “Is there anything I can get you? A drink, something to eat?” he enquired.
Chelsea shook her head, though she had skipped lunch, she didn’t really feel like eating right now. “If its okay, I think I’ll take a walk around the grounds.”
The old man nodded. Mr. Dimera had said to allow all miss Victoria’s family access, the young girl no doubt qualified.

When Luc arrived home, Edmund was waiting fro him at the door, “Evening Edmund how was your day?”
“Enjoyable enough sir, you have a guest. Miss Victoria’s sister.”
Luc frowned; he hadn’t met Chelsea yet and wasn’t sure as to the reception he’d get, “Ah, how long has she been waiting?”
“Just over an hour sir, she seemed most anxious to see her sister. She’s taking a tour around the gardens currently.”
“So Victoria isn’t home yet?”
The butler shook his head, “No sir, she left late this morning and we haven’t seen or heard from her since.”
“Thank you, could you tell cook that there’ll be one more for dinner, I’m sure Chelsea will be staying.”
“I’ve already taken the liberty of doing so, and your mother called, she’ll be dining with your sister tonight.”
Luc walked to the study, he’d put off dealing with Chelsea as long as he possibly could. But just as he sat down, he heard the front door open and slam shut. Victoria was home. She found him in the study, it was always the first place she looked since he seemed to live out of the room most days, “You wouldn’t believe my brother.” She fumed, no ‘hello’, no kiss, she simply went straight into her rant.
“What did he do this time? And did you really go out looking like that?” He referred to the fact that she was dressed in a tiny t-shirt, a ripped jeans and a pair of sneakers that had seen better days.
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?” she asked, sufficiently distracted from her fuming.
He shook his head, he’d told her time and again about dressing appropriately in public. He didn’t much care about what she wore in the house but he had an image to maintain and she was part of that image.
“If your business partners and contacts have a problem with the way I dress, then they can go…I dress for comfort, I will not wear that constrictive clothes the other women insist on wearing. If you don’t like the way I dress then that’s your problem.”
He smiled, “I love the way you dress, especially when your t-shirts are so tiny they leave nothing to the imagination. In fact, there’s plenty about you I like.”
“Really?” she asked, her mood doing another one-eighty, “What do you like about me?”
“Well, your hair and its general unruliness. I love the fact that you don’t act like the lady I know you were raised as one.”
“Must be the Brady blood coming through, all that Irish unruliness and restlessness.” She teased.
“I also love your lips, those gorgeous lips that can do such amazing things.” She smiled up as his lips came down to meet hers.
The clearing of someone’s throat interrupted them minutes later, “I forgot to tell you, your sister’s here.”
“Really?” She turned to Edmund, questioning the interruption.
“Dinner’s almost ready and your sister requested that I come and find you.”
She sighed, they’d have to put their fun and games off till later it seemed. Sometimes having family could be a real pain. She revised her opinion minutes later as she sat while Chelsea cried, “What am I supposed to do now? She asked.
“Honestly?” Chelsea nodded, “I think you should talk to them, all three of them and-”
“Are you crazy? I can’t talk to them; I don’t even want to see either of them right now.”
“Well, you have to call your mother and let her know where you are so she doesn’t worry. You cn stay if you want but-”
“Really? You mean that?” Victoria nodded and Chelsea threw her arms around her, “Thank you so much! You have no idea how you’ve helped me, I was NOT looking forward to going home tonight.”
“You’d still have to call your mother.” Victoria reminded her.
“Do I have to? I don’t want anything to do with her right now. I shouldn’t be all that surprised; my life was too good to be true anyway.”
“You deserve good things in life Chelsea, this is merely a setback.”
“You think so?”
Victoria nodded again, it seemed that was all she’d been doing for the past few minutes, “I do and don’t worry, I’ll call your mom, let her know where you are if you don’t feel up to it.”
“Thanks Tory, I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”
“That’s what sisters are for; you can help me plan my party.” She encouraged, even though most everything was planned, maybe having something to do would lighten her mood.
Chapter 55:
It had been over a month since her party and almost two since she’d come back to town and Victoria was bored out of her mind. So she decided it was the perfect time to bug her husband, have him give her something constructive to do. Victoria threw herself onto the sofa in the study and sighed, Luc pretended not to hear her. Smiling to himself he turned a page in the document he’d been going over, he’d been expecting this a lot sooner. Victoria sighed again, louder this time and he put the page down; “Can I help you with something?”
“I’m bored.”
“And I’m working, aren’t you supposed to be having lunch with your mother today?”
“I had lunch with her yesterday. I can’t live like this. My life consists of lunch and dinner engagements. There’s only so many times I can have lunch with someone and they all have jobs.”
“So get a job.”
“Where? There are only two places I’d even consider working and they’re both not viable options.” His enquiring brow prompted her to elaborate, “Basic Black is owned by John Black, who happens to be Belle’s dad and as well as anti-Dimera, despite the fact that you’re his nephew. The other option is Titan…”
“Which happens to be your grandfather’s company, you also already have a stellar employment record there. I’m sure if you reapply you’d get your job back or a job.”
“I can’t go back to Titan, not after that scene I caused two years back. And besides I still haven’t forgiven him for that, I wouldn’t be able to go and work for him again.”
“Well how about instead of going to work for him, you go and work for yourself?”
“You mean start a business? I wouldn’t even know what kind.”
“No, I mean help run your own. One that already exists.”
“Luc, what are you talking about? I don’t own any business, wholly or partly.”
He handed her a thick envelope. “You do now.”
“I don’t understand, what is this and how will it solve my dilemma?”
“Open it.”
She read the document, “Where did you get this? Is it real?”
“From my father.”
“Okay, please explain to me how it is that you own 49% of Titan.”
“I don’t, you do. I’m giving them to you, as a belated wedding gift. You love that company and you loved working there, now you don’t have to be working for Victor Kiriakis, you’ll work with him. The shares are legit. It was transferred with all his other business interests, legal business interests, when he found out about me. He was content to be a silent partner of sorts; I’m guessing you won’t be.”
“So I really own a 49% share in Titan?”
“Yes and I’m guessing you’re going to want to jump right in. There’s a general meeting of the executive board of directors tomorrow as well as the shareholders. Usually a Dimera lawyer is present on behalf of our interest but since you now own it, I’m thinking you’ll want a more hands on approach. You might even be able to convince them to give you some sort of position at Titan. You are plenty qualified.”
“Oh thank you, thank you.”
“Where are you going?”
“Well, if I’m going to help run a company like Titan, I have to have a new wardrobe.” she stated as though it were the most obvious explanation in the world. She passed Patrick on her way out and gave him a cheery wave before bouncing out the front door.
“What’s up with her?” he asked Luc as he walked into the study.
“Shopping. She’s decided she needs a new wardrobe.” Luc explained.
“Does she need a new wardrobe?” he asked curious at a woman’s ability to never have enough clothes. There might nit have been much money for food in their home, but Bonnie had always made sure there’d been enough money for new shoes.
“Does she need anything?” Luc responded, “I’ve just handed her the certificates to a 49% share in Titan Industries.”
“Her grandfather’s company?”
Luc nodded, “One and the same.”
“So you’ve been giving some thought to what we discussed last time.” Patrick observed
“I have, killing two birds with one stone. We’ll have an inside track to Titan and Victoria will be super busy. Everything is coming along splendidly.”
Chelsea didn’t know where she was heading; all she knew was that she couldn’t go home. But she wasn’t at all surprised to find herself standing at the Dimera front door.
