Subject: A plan of Action
Hiya, got your mailing address from Hope. I cannot believe we haven’t thought of this instead of those expensive phone calls cross-Atlantic.
So as you may already know that Mimi has given Shawn three weeks to convince her to stay in Salem otherwise she’s packing everything up and moving to Los Angeles. Our idiotic brother has already wasted two of those weeks doing absolutely nothing, well nothing that I’ve seen or heard about to convince her to stay though conversations I’ve had with him have convinced me that he does truly want her to stay. So here’s the deal, I’ve come up with a brilliant plan to light a fire under his arse and it involves a certain Chicago resident. I know he’s doing some research for your dad and that you have influence over both your dad as well as said subject. I need you to get him to Salem. I need you to get him to Salem fast so work your magic and I’ll do the rest.

Badgirl Benson, love that! While I agree that mailing each other is a lot less expansive, I will not stop calling, nothing can substitute hearing someone’s voice and reacting in real time except maybe seeing them in person.
So about your little ‘plan of action’, I have to say that while you haven’t laid out all the details I catch your drift and I think that it just might work. Only problem is that said third party, Chicago, is not to know, under any circumstances, what his true purpose in Salem is. I’ll get started on it right away.
Just one thing, if any of this backfires, I had absolutely nothing to do with it. I will leave you out in the cold to take the blame, not very sisterly I know but that’s the way it is. This mail though is probably a bad idea, since it links me to you so as of now; you’re on your own.
Have fun…I wish I was there to see it all go down.

Thanks, the whole mail thing was Abby’s idea. Hers is goodgirl.deveraux, neat huh?
Anyway I have some excellent news, Mimi’s staying. She told Shawn last night, although as far as I’m concerned the decision had absolutely nothing to do with him convincing her to stay unless he did that by sulking for three weeks. I’m pretty sure he’s only attempt to get her to stay was a few mumbled words from the sofa he seemed to have glued his ass to recently. I am so sick of him right now I don’t even know if I want to help him, he certainly doesn’t deserve it. I never thought I’d say my own brother is a coward but that’s just what he is.
And you, YOU are an absolute genius. How you managed all that in less than a week I’ll never know. Needless to say the plan is coming along splendidly, I have a few more things to see to and then we’ll just have to wait and see.
Missing you.
Chelsea
“Mimi hi, just the person I was looking for.”
Mimi frowned at Hope, “You were looking for me? Why?”
“I wanted to have a little talk.”
“I’m working.” She indicated the pile of papers she was holding.
“I’m aware of that and I won’t take long, I promise.”
Mimi sighed, she really didn’t have much of a choice and she was due for a break anyway. Her boss wasn’t all that strict about company time, which was a relief in a company like Titan. “I’ve only got five minutes.” she said as they walked o a place they could talk privately.
Entering the empty office, Hope turned to her, “that’s okay, I won’t need that long. I just wanted to thank you, for staying in Salem. I know it’s not really easy for you right now but I appreciate what you did for Shawn and so does he.”
“I didn’t do it for Shawn; I did it for Zach.”
“I don’t know what he said to convince you to stay, or even if it was him who did the convincing and I know he hasn’t really been…” Hope trailed off, not knowing how to articulate the manner in which her son’s personality had changed.
Mimi supplied her with some choice descriptions, “Caring, interested, around?”
“Himself,” Hope settled on, “He hasn’t really been himself and I’m not sure if he thanked you or if he even realises just what you did for him by staying in Salem but I do and I have to say that no matter what happens between you and Shawn that you’re always going to be part of the family. That you’ll always have family in Salem.”
Mimi smiled at Hope, not too sure as to how she felt about becoming the next ‘Marlena’, a member of the family yet not really belonging, “Thank you.”
“I’ll let you get back to your work now.” Hope said as she left the office.
Mimi stayed and thought about what Hope had said, it had been along the same line as the words Caroline had spoken a week ago. But it had been something else Caroline had said that had really made her think. They’d been talking about how serious she was about leaving Salem. Mimi had replied that it seemed to be the better of the two choices. Caroline nodded, fully understanding and then she’d said, “It’s not what we do that matters, it’s whether you can live with the choices you’ve made.” Up until that point, Mimi had been resolute about leaving Salem; Shawn after all wasn’t making much of an effort to get her to stay. She’d gone home and thought about it, could she live with the knowledge that she’d taken her son away from not only his father, but his entire extended family. A family that loved him, that would look after him. And could she deny her son the right to have these people in his life everyday, to have Shawn not be the one to teach him how to ride a bike or do other things that may seem insignificant but which were really memories children treasured. Would Zach ever forgive her and could she ever forgive herself for being so selfish as to take him away because she wanted to go? In the end she decided that Zach deserved to grow up in Salem and Shawn deserved to watch him get older everyday, it was unfair to enforce occasional visits when there was no reason good enough, to leave Salem. She found that of the two, the choice she could live with was the one she had made. Funnily enough, once she’d made the decision, without having told anyone, Shawn had magically appeared at her door and had taken both Zach and herself to the zoo. They’d gone out everyday since, as a family. She appreciated that he hadn’t pressed her for an answer but had made the day about being together. Claire would join them at times and Mimi didn’t mind one bit. Since Belle and Philip had agreed to joint custody and Shawn wasn’t pursuing any custody suit, his time spent with Claire was limited and so Mimi didn’t mind one bit if she joined in the fun.

Hiya Chels.
Wow, that was some venting, I guess you’re really angry at Shawn, I can understand why but just thought I’d let you in on a few details. I might be across the ocean, but I still get the Salem gossip and I know for a fact that Shawn did not sit on the sofa for three weeks; he actually got up and took his family out. They went places and they did things like any regular family and Mimi says that all the while he didn’t even mention her going. He didn’t ask her or question her simply left the decision up to her on whether or not to go, which made it all that easier to make apparently. I can see how. So no, our brother is not a coward but I do think he might be a tad depressed, you’d expect that after the rollercoaster his life has been after the last few years and with this mess he’s dealing with right now, it’s not hard to understand why he might be thinking there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. He’s got plenty people rooting for him though which I think is just the thing he needs right now.
Just thought I’d catch you up.

“Mimi! I didn’t know you were home, well here.” he said, politely looking away as she dashed upstairs and to her wardrobe.
“Why would it matter?” she asked, confused as to what exactly he was doing there.
“Victoria said she’d give you a call. I guess she thinks you’re at work.”
“And the call would have something to do with why you’re standing in the doorway with a bunch of suitcases?” she called down to him. Zach was still asleep; she hoped that the noise they were making wouldn’t wake him.
“Umm…I had a bit of an accident at my previous accommodation.” He said reluctantly, “Victoria said I could stay here till I find a better place and besides its closer to Salem U, where I’ll be most of the time. She was going to call to let you know that I’d be staying. It’ll only be for a few days.”
She walked downstairs smiling, “what happened to your previous accommodation?”
Her smile broadened as his slightly flushed face turned even redder, “I had some trouble with a fire extinguisher.”
She shook her head, “Oh no, there is no way you’re staying here if you’re starting fires, not while Zach is under this roof.”

“Sleeping. Why can’t you stay with one of your parents? Or find a hotel room?”
“Like I said, this place is close to the university and besides I’m not really up to moving in with either of my parents. I won’t be in here most of the time and when I am you won’t even notice I’m around.”
“We’ll have to work out some sort of schedule, for the bathroom especially. You can take the upstairs room; I’ll move my things to the room next to Zach’s-”
Rex shook his head, “That’s not necessary. I’ll need a room with a door anyway; I keep the oddest hours sometimes.”
“I remember. Zach tends to sleep through most of the night so he shouldn’t bother you then.”
“Mimi I’ll be fine, I just can’t believe you’re actually agreeing to let me stay.”
“Well why wouldn’t I? You need the place and we’re friends right?”
He nodded, “Yes we are.”
“And you don’t have to worry about finding another place; you can stay here as long as you like or as long as you’re willing to put up with Zach and myself.”
“Thank you, I’ll just take these through.”
Rex marched back to the door to get his things and Mimi went to check in on Zach, Shawn would be picking him up soon for their first sleepover.

I really did have a ton of work and absolutely no time in which to do it. Didn’t know about the sister rules but I figure it’s probably on par with that of best friends so I set aside a few minutes for this especially. To let you now how important you are to me and to let you know that I’m not bugging over the whole Max thing, water under the bridge and besides you didn’t know.
So I met him at Basic Black, as you know I have kept my job there, just regulated my hours to allow time for school. But I wasn’t working the day I met him, in fact I was visiting grandma when she put me to work. We were supposed to be having a late lunch but suddenly I find myself in a room with the most gorgeous guy I’ve ever seen, needing him to sign some papers. All I had to do was facilitate the signing, make sure the job had been done properly. He of course insisted on reading the thing and I was stressing over Shawn so I had a little outburst, we had a nice conversation, plenty of flirting and dinner that night. Like I said, it’s been three weeks and I’m falling HARD.
I’m loving this sister thing, it’s so cool. So what’s up with you?

I’m so happy for you and judging by your mails you’re super happy. I’m loving the sister thing too, always wanted one never really got one till I met you. I dot know all the rules but I figure we’ll make it up as we go along.
I have some exciting news too but I have to tell my parents first, all four of them before I can tell anyone else. Anyway, I’ll be travelling Europe for the next few months and so communication might be a bit difficult. I might not be able to check in with you as often but keep mailing me. And keep me updated on Shawn and Mimi.
I just thought of the coolest thing, a side benefit to being sisters. And it’s something we’re already doing. We get to gang up against our brother, it might be a secret this time and I might be doing it long distance but it’s still fun. Can’t wait to do it in person, that oughtta be real fun.

If I can’t be there personally I can see it though your eyes. You’re I the city of love and I have love, speaking of which I thought you might like to know that Max is kinda dating again. You’ll never guess who, Abby. She even came over and asked my permission, I never even saw it coming. Anyway I gave them my blessing and I know you told Max to be happy so I’m hoping you’re happy for them.
I have to go now, got a date that I’m nowhere near ready for in twenty minutes.

Off to see the Eiffel Tower

I’ve never seen the Eiffel Tower, would love to. I’ve never been to Paris either, or Europe for that matter. You are so lucky, take plenty of pictures and mail them.
