Michael Logan did an item about SoapNet's upcoming airing of the series' first two episodes, and he interviewed Frances, referencing the fact that Tom and Alice were the central characters on the new show and already grandparents. Reid had this to say: "That would never happen today. Our new writer, Mr. Reilly, doesn't like the old characters, and he's about 90 himself. He's a really old buzzard!"
