I'm not surprise you haven't heard this song. Tristan Prettyman is not well-known. She is an acoustic/folk singer and her CD is called "twenty-three," if you are interested. The song "Simple" is just basically about keeping things in life simple. I like to think of her as a female version of Jack Johnson just because she surfs and plays the guitar like he does. ;D
